In case you have missed the blatent title, it is not going to be a positive one (for the most part).
Bit of background info:
So, due to the fact I am a close relative of Casper the friendly ghost, I decided to get a spray tan (by the brand white to brown) before heading on my holidays to sunny Peurto Banus a couple of weeks ago. I was determined to not be a Pastey Pattie on the beach. It looked amazing before leaving and for the first few days but slowly became patchy due to dipping in and out of the pool, copious amounts of sun cream application and a disastrous scuba diving experience (wet suits are not a friend of the self tanner). So, I venture to a local up market pharmacy and purchase myself an extremely abrasive exfoliator (scratches remain) and a bottle of the Avene Moisturizing self-tanning lotion. I'm not gonna lie, purely because it was the only brownish coloured bottle with any English on it. The results were OK. Just OK.
The positives:
- It's natural looking.
- It is long lasting, I'll give it that.
- It develops quite quickly (after about 3 hours.
- Tis quite moisturising, as claimed.
The negatives:
- It is so natural looking you can barely tell you've applied anything. I would predict you would need about 3 coats to get a substantial glow on the go. Maybe 2 if you're very fair and just want to take the pale edge off.
- Although it turned out very evenly on my arms, it was quite patchy on my legs.
- It just will not come off!! After about a week and a half I still cannot get this off my legs. 3 shower scrubs and a long hot bath later I am beginning to think I am living with patchy knees and ankles for the foreseeable furture. Not a good look!
- It is a white lotion so you really have no idea if you have been successful in even application until it is too late.
- I paid about €18 for this which I believe to be overpriced for this product.
Any self tanning recommendations are welcome. I'm interested in giving Vita Liberata a whirl. Thoughts?
